Supporting Sports

As Irelands first Health Promoting College, Mary Immaculate College understands the vital role sport plays in the lives of students. Hurling, Gaelic Football, Peil na mBan, Camogie, Soccer, Basketball, Badminton, Volleyball, Tennis, Circuit Training, Aerobics, Taekwon-do, Tai-chi and Table Tennis are just some of the sports that are catered for at MIC.

Mary Immaculate College has expanded dramatically in recent years and now has over 3000 students enrolled in 30 different academic programs. And while there has been an immediate and significant improvement in the quality of the amenities available to students with the opening of a state-of-the-art multi-purpose sports building Tailteann in 2007, we need to build up our facilities further.

At present we are attempting to raise the finance to allow us to develop our first all-weather/astro-turf training area with floodlighting and provide floodlighting for existing tennis courts as well as additional sporting facilities.Currently our only training area with lights is the camogie pitch which is being called upon nightly by over 100 students, the pitch is in desperate need of repair.

By developing an all-weather pitch, we will insure that students will have adequate access to training facilities as well as ensuring that the widest possible range of activities will be available to them. The development of our sporting facilities will also enable us to develop our Sports Coach Education Programs, this allows students to acquire qualifications in coaching  at a level appropriate to primary school education.

You can help Mary Immaculate College to continue making a difference by supporting our fundraising efforts towards the much needed additional sport facilities.
