Congratulations to Fiona Morrissey (4th year B.Ed.) who has been selected for the Cumann Camogaiochta Comhairle Artoideachais All Stars team for 2016.

Fiona, the captain of the MIC Senior camogie team that reached the semi-final of the Ashbourne Cup, had an outstanding year for the college team.

Not only playing at a high level herself, she also motivated the team to strive for excellence in the colleges return to Ashbourne Cup competition for the first time in almost 20 years. This was seen in the teams performances in beating UCD, UUJ and NUI Galway. In the semi-final they were narrowly beaten by UCC and have shown that they are capable of competing with the best in the country. Playing at full back, Fiona thwarted many an attack and marshalled the other players to maintain control she is a worthy recipient of the accolade.

The joint Colleges All-Star Awards will be a collaboration between the higher education colleges of Ladies Football and Camogie. The award acknowledges the outstanding individual performance by a player throughout the Colleges season for their skills, commitment, attitude, teamwork and work rate. The award will be the highest college sporting accolade which will be presented at a Colleges All-Star at a special ceremony in Dublin later this year.
